Ex-Minneapolis teacher to be sentenced for abuse
A district judge found former 2016 Minnesota Teacher of the Year Abdul Wright guilty last month of sexually abusing a 14-year-old student at Harvest Best Academy in Minneapolis, and set sentencing for Friday, Oct. 17. In a written verdict, Judge Sarah West said a recorded call with the victim’s mother showed Wright lied on the stand; Wright faces up to 14 years in prison and sex-offender registration under state guidelines.
