East River Flats body identified as 56-year-old woman; no link to other cases, MPD says

Minneapolis authorities identified the body found near East River Flats Park as 56-year-old Karen Sognesand and said her death occurred Saturday with no known link to other cases.[1]

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Sognesand's death occurred sometime on Saturday, the day her body was found.[1] The Minneapolis Police Department said the case shows no known connection to the body recoveries at Bde Maka Ska or near the Stone Arch Bridge.[1] Police said the recoveries included the East River Flats case on Saturday night and a body along the east shore of Bde Maka Ska on Sunday morning.[2] A third body was recovered near the Stone Arch Bridge around 1 p.m. Monday, and that scene was investigated by University of Minnesota police.[2]
